In Donetsk, the first call was drowned out by artillery shelling (PHOTO)
Donetsk, October 01 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – In Donetsk, the beginning of the school year turned out to be tragic due to the incessant shelling of the city. But today, October 1, despite everything, the doors of dozens of schools opened in Donetsk.

This is several times less than it was before the war, but, unfortunately, it was impossible otherwise - despite the declared truce, the situation in the city remains tense, and even today the First Bell holiday was held to the “accompaniment” of artillery.
But people still come back and bring their children to school. According to the director of school No. 108 in the city of Makeevka, Tatyana Gurmankina, today over 60% of students came to the first bell and the first lesson of the World.
The atmosphere itself was very touching: laughing girls in bows, serious boys in suits and ties, excited parents. According to tradition, first-graders were brought to the school line by 11th graders. Then there was a congratulatory speech by the school director, presentation of certificates of honor to excellent students and activists, kind songs and fiery dances.
There were also gifts, as at any holiday. They were brought by Member of the Novorossiya Parliament Oksana Bevtsyk, who graduated from this particular school many years ago. The children received backpacks - blue for boys and pink for girls, and sports equipment for physical education lessons.
“I am very glad to see you dressed up and happy. Despite the fact that there are still battles on the outskirts of our city, you all came to your school. That's right, we must learn, we must win. And your new victories begin today. For some of you, the school bell will ring for the first time today. For graduates, it will ring for the 11th time, and you will leave school to build a new life, a new future.
I want to wish you knowledge, wisdom, so that you all study with excellence. So that the school becomes your second home, and the classroom becomes your second beloved family. Good luck and peace to you guys!” – MP Oksana Bevtsyk told the children.
Then the guys left for their first lesson. Lesson of Peace. Unfortunately, these children, like most children in Donetsk, do not know from textbooks what peace is and what war is.
“Peace means having peaceful people around. And now we don’t have peace,” says 1-A student Nastenka.
“The world in any sense of the word is a very fragile matter. Therefore, it is impossible to say clearly what it will be like even today. For example, in a couple of seconds explosions may be heard,” says Evgeniy, an 11th grade student.
But everything went great. It was obvious that the children missed a normal, peaceful life, they missed school, they missed communication. For them, literally every second was truly a holiday that will be remembered for a lifetime. I would really like the whole year to pass easily and joyfully for them.
Thank you!
