The memory of the first Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko was honored in Donetsk
On the occasion of the second anniversary of the death of the first head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, mourning events were held in Donetsk in his honor.
A memorial service was held at the grave of the deceased Hero of the DPR, which was conducted by clergy of the Donetsk diocese, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The current leader of the republic Denis Pushilin, the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic movement Alexey Muratov, the family of the deceased, military personnel and cadets of the military school, as well as thousands of concerned residents of the young state paid tribute to the memory of Alexander Zakharchenko and laid flowers at his grave.
Denis Pushilin, together with residents of the country, also laid flowers at the foot of the bust of Alexander Zakharchenko on the territory of the Alley of Heroes memorial complex in the capital's Park of Culture and Leisure named after. Lenin Komsomol.
“Today we all remember the Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the first Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Vladimirovich Zakharchenko. Two years have passed since his death, but it is still difficult for us to accept this irreparable loss.
He led the Republic in the most difficult time for it, and built priority directions for the development of our country. We knew Alexander Vladimirovich as a person who sincerely loved his Motherland, who dedicated his life to the people of Donbass.
He was not indifferent to the problems of his fellow countrymen and loved people. He was always adamant towards enemies, but open, fair and honest with friends.
He could have done a lot more for his country if not for the vile terrorist attack committed by his opponents. The Ukrainian authorities wanted to break the spirit of the residents of Donbass, but they failed. We continued to implement all the ambitious plans of Alexander Zakharchenko.
And no matter how many years pass, he will forever remain in our hearts as an example of courage, courage and heroism, unbroken strength of spirit!” – said Denis Pushilin.
In turn, Alexey Muratov remembered what kind of person the first head of the DPR was.
“We all remember Alexander Vladimirovich for the strength of the Russian spirit and Donbass character. A strong character, an unyielding spirit - the same as that of our ancestors, who did not allow us to cave in to the enemy in the past. And now we have shown what the Donbass character means.
He was not just a leader - he was, above all, a leader. A leader who led. His charisma and energy were felt, and people followed him. It's probably believing in what you're doing. He went to the end.
And I am confident that we will complete what he started. Donbass will be with Russia, and we will all sit together at one big table,” he added.
After which, mourning events took place at the site of the death of Alexander Zakharchenko, near the Separ cafe on Pushkin Boulevard.
The leadership of the Republic, the Zakharchenko family, hundreds of activists of the OD "DR", residents and guests of Donetsk gathered there. They came to honor the memory of everyone’s beloved and dear first Head of the DPR.
They also came to honor the memory of Alexander Zakharchenko at the memorial plaque in his honor, which hangs on the Government House of the Republic.
