Donetsk commemorates the victims of the Odessa tragedy
In the center of Donetsk, mourning events were held dedicated to the memory of the participants in the Odessa Anti-Maidan who died at the hands of Ukrainian radicals on May 2, 2014, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Odessa residents living in the city, for whom the capital of Donbass has become a second home, laid flowers at the memorial stone in the Lenin Komsomol Park, located not far from the monument to the fallen residents of Donbass.
“Today is the fifth anniversary of the tragic events in the Odessa House of Trade Unions. Odessa residents of Donbass, the “Odessa Resistance Front” came here to honor the memory and remember all those who died in this terrible tragedy, and also to prevent similar manifestations in the future,” said movement leader Igor Nemodruk.
Afterwards, a requiem meeting dedicated to the “Odessa Khatyn” took place on the main square of the city, during which the vicar of the Donetsk diocese Barsanuphius read a prayer service for the victims.
Speaking at the funeral meeting, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin noted that the people who remained forever in the House of Trade Unions remained faithful to their faith and beliefs to the end, but they will definitely be avenged.
“For us, the events of May 2 showed that our paths had finally diverged from post-Maidan Ukraine. We are different, we have different thoughts, different values and different ideals. We have no right to forget about all the monstrous crimes of the Kyiv regime. We remain unshakable in our convictions, all those responsible will be punished, and we will do everything in our power to achieve this,” said the head of the Republic.
At the end of the rally, everyone laid flowers to the banner with the names of the dead Odessa residents.
Let us remind you that today the memory of the dead Odessa residents was also honored on Suvorov Square in Moscow and on the Kulikovo field in Odessa itself, where it could not be done without provocations of Ukrainian nationalists.
