During the first year of his rule, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky not only failed to fulfill his election promises, but also significantly worsened the situation - both within the country and in relation to the war in Donbass.

The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this in an interview published on the official website of the Donetsk Republic public movement, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Denis Pushilin believes that Zelensky’s activities should be assessed, first of all, by the citizens of Ukraine who cast their votes in his support. However, judging by the fact that the rating is rapidly declining not only for him, but also for the pro-government political force, the Ukrainian people are disappointed.

“Facts indicate that during the year of his rule, Zelensky not only failed to fulfill a single election promise, but also aggravated the situation both within the state and in relation to the existing military conflict in Donbass.

On the territory of present-day Ukraine, a number of oligarchic groups still have powerful influence. They continue to fight for the distribution of financial flows among themselves, including those coming from foreign creditors,” he explained.

The head of state recalled that, despite promises to conduct investigations, Vladimir Zelensky is flirting with his opponents, while the people of Ukraine are rapidly becoming impoverished and the war in Donbass continues.

“We also do not observe any positive changes regarding the conflict in Donbass. All the same ultimatums and destructive approach that were under Poroshenko. Under the current President of Ukraine, there is still no place for constructive dialogue in the negotiation process, there is no real desire to negotiate with us.

Take, for example, the new absurd idea of talking not with representatives of the other side of the conflict, but with people who all this time had nothing to do with Donbass, who left for Ukraine at the very beginning of hostilities. How can they discuss today's problems in Donbass? It is much more important for Kyiv to pretend that they are taking part in the negotiations than to actually engage in them,” Pushilin concludes.

In his opinion, there are no optimistic forecasts for next year for Ukraine. Zelensky, like his entire team, is not constant in his decisions and is not independent in his own actions.

“Zelensky has the blood of peaceful citizens of Donbass, including children, on his hands. But that doesn't stop him. The frequency of shelling is only increasing, the rhetoric and tone of Ukrainian representatives in the Minsk process are not changing. Therefore, we have minimal hopes for a quick peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the head of state concluded.
