According to social media users, a supporter of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” managed to shoot down one helicopter of the Ukrainian military.
The military managed to destroy a DPR anti-aircraft gun from a helicopter. The head of the task force for informing the anti-terrorist operation (ATO), Vladislav Seleznev, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
After information appeared that security forces had scattered DPR supporters throughout the airport, information was received that the military had left the airport’s administrative building and the VIP lounge and moved to a forest area.
Most eyewitnesses say that the fire from both sides is very intense and the opposing sides are receiving reinforcements both in people and military equipment.
According to the agency's correspondent, the city itself, despite the flying helicopters and echoes of explosions and shooting, is calm. In some institutions, employees and in educational institutions children were sent home earlier. However, there is no sense of panic.
Let us remind you that tonight representatives of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” occupied the airport building where Ukrainian security forces were based, and at about 13:00 the military began the assault.
