A rally dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the proclamation of the DPR was held in Donetsk
Today in the capital of the DPR they celebrated the fourth anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The celebration began with a solemn procession. To the sound of an orchestra, a column of thousands marched from the Government House to the central Lenin Square, where a solemn meeting was held with the participation of top officials of the DPR.
“Four long years have passed since the day when Donbass, unable to come to terms with the coup that took place in Kyiv, decided to take responsibility upon itself.
Did we think then that this was just the beginning? Did we think then that a full-fledged war would be unleashed against us? Did we think that they would kill us with all the weapons available in Ukraine? Did we think it would last so long? But could we have done anything differently? Could we bow our heads and accept the fact that Nazis would walk our streets? Should we accept that the history of our ancestors will be grossly trampled upon? Should we accept that our children will be ashamed of us? Of course not!
We took a very brave and desperate first step. During these four years, many events have passed, good and bad, but the Donetsk People's Republic exists. There are you and me, citizens of the Republic. We have a purpose, we have someone to care about. We have something to win for, and we will win!”, Speaker of the DPR Parliament Denis Pushilin addressed the audience.
Let us recall that on April 6, 2014, protesters occupied the building of the Donetsk regional administration in response to the coup in Kyiv. The next day, April 7, the regional deputies created the Supreme Council, from the rostrum of which the Declaration of Sovereignty of the DPR was read.
