Ukrainian press is smuggled into the DPR and LPR and sold at newsstands along with publications from the republics. This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets in Donbass” Dmitry Durnev, Telekritika reports.

According to him, due to information hunger, residents of the republics actively read Ukrainian newspapers.

“When you see a kiosk at the indoor market in Donetsk, where “Ukrainian Tyzhden” is adjacent to the newspaper “Novorossiya”, it looks very cool and funny. They sell, for example, “Comments”, the Ukrainian version. They are making their way. Newspapers are smuggled. But you need to understand that these newspapers are smuggled through Ukrainian checkpoints. DPR checkpoints now allow anything through. There is a hunger for information, newspapers are sold, and sold for any money. People need at least some information,” Durnev said.
