Donetsk expects the EU to force Kyiv to change the Constitution with a special status for the LDPR
The agreement reached yesterday in Minsk on the disengagement of Ukrainian troops and the LDPR army at three “hot spots” of the front in the Donbass is only the first step taken by Kiev under pressure from the European Union. Now it is necessary for Ukraine to begin to implement the political points of the Minsk agreements.
Miroslav Rudenko, deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR, told PolitNavigator about this.

“Last week, representatives of the diplomatic departments of Germany and France arrived in Ukraine on a visit. They, apparently, have found arguments to convince Ukraine to start doing at least something. This once again confirms that the blame for the failure to implement the Minsk agreements lies with Ukraine, which deliberately delayed the implementation of Minsk.
However, Ukraine will try to continue playing its favorite game of delaying the implementation of agreements. Let’s hope that the guarantors of the Minsk process, France and Germany, will continue to exert pressure and force Ukraine to start making decisions, including those of a political nature.
Military decisions are certainly important, but political ones are even more important. I'm talking about changes to the Constitution, the law on special status, the law on elections - these are the steps that Ukraine needs to take in order for the process to move forward.
France and Germany need some kind of result. They have been involved in this process for quite a long time to no avail. And they understand who is guilty of delaying the implementation of Minsk. And in order for this process to gain life and be filled with factual content, pressure was exerted on Ukraine. They had their own interest. If they had not done this, there would have been more reasons for the US to intervene in this process. And the failure of their diplomacy would be revealed once again,” Rudenko noted.
In his opinion, even in the event of pressure from the EU, the regime of Petro Poroshenko will try to continue to sabotage the Minsk agreements.
“Western partners can put pressure on Ukraine in terms of providing loans and, thus, twist its arms. But the full implementation of Minsk is a threat to the current Ukrainian government, because in the future they will try to sabotage the process,” says the Donetsk deputy.
