DTEK does not see any grounds for the nationalization of Krymenergo

“We do not comment on hypothetical situations and do not see any legal grounds for nationalization,” the company’s press service said in a written response to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The company noted that the supply of electricity to the peninsula is managed by the state enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Krymenergo”.
“According to contractual and regulatory documents, dispatcher commands are subject to unconditional execution. In case of emergency situations related to the energy supply of the peninsula, DTEK Krymenergo is obliged to follow the instructions of the dispatcher,” explained DTEK, emphasizing that DTEK Krymenergo operates within the framework of Ukrainian legislation.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Monday the head of the Crimean Ministry of Fuel and Energy, Sergei Egorov, announced possible nationalization. According to him, the validity of the actions of DTEK Crimeenergo during the power outages of the peninsula on December 19-20 is now being checked.
“Nationalization and forced purchase of Krymenergo are possible due to its strategic importance for the peninsula. Today the company has very weak organizational capabilities; the staff takes a formal approach to many issues. There is the responsibility of managers and the ability to make adequate decisions on the ground. Unfortunately, DTEK’s managers are not capable of making such decisions,” the minister noted.
