A bill has been introduced into the State Duma of the Russian Federation, according to which the law on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression extends to residents of Crimea and Sevastopol, who were subjected to repression by the Ukrainian authorities because they advocated the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.

It is noted that the bill was introduced by a group of deputies from all factions, including the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov.
“The purpose of this law is the rehabilitation of all victims of political repressions subjected to such on the territory of Russia within its present borders since October 25 (November 7), 1917, restoration of their civil rights, elimination of other consequences of arbitrariness and provision of currently feasible compensation for material damage.” , – noted in the document.
According to the deputies, “Russia’s historical duty is to rehabilitate those who for many years sought the restoration of historical justice and fought for the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia.”
