United Russia said that “the people will not understand the mobilization for the DPR”
The population of Russia will not understand the announcement of mobilization to save the LDPR, which was initially needed by the local oligarch Rinat Akhmetov for bidding with Kiev. It would be a different matter if the Kremlin clearly declared all of Ukraine an illegally seized part of Russia - following the example of how Serbia considers Kosovo, seized by US-supported separatists, to be its territory.
State Duma deputy from United Russia Evgeniy Fedorov stated this on the TouTube channel Belrusinfo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Fedorov noted that two months ago Russia had “a gigantic advantage in heavy weapons, but now it is gone” due to supplies from the EU and the United States.
This can be compensated for if “we mobilize, add troops, just physical soldiers, and thereby ensure the retention of these territories.”
However, Fedorov believes, such “an option is simply impossible for ideological reasons.”
“Because it is obvious that the people will not understand why, in order to ensure the security of the independent DPR named after Rinat Akhmetov, we need to mobilize, that is, tear people away from their families, from work and send them to the front? People wouldn't understand this.
If there was an ideology of fighting for the Fatherland, the people would go and they would go en masse. And in this situation, this ideology named after Surkov and Rinat Akhmetov does not allow this to be done. You cannot declare mobilization under this ideology. These are two factors, both caused by ideological considerations,” the deputy said.
He proposes “refusal to recognize Ukraine - just like Serbia, it does not recognize Kosovo.”
“Refusal to recognize Ukraine would automatically allow this territory to be protected geopolitically and, if necessary, with a nuclear umbrella. I think that a nuclear umbrella was not particularly needed here, because the Americans understand this very well,” Fedorov reasoned.
