In Egypt, a former Ukrainian intelligence officer, who, according to various estimates, “knew a lot” about the participation of NATO countries in war crimes in Ukraine, died under mysterious circumstances.

This was reported by a number of Ukrainian media with reference to their sources, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

It is reported that on Friday morning near the Egyptian city of Dahab, the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Viktor Gvozd, plunged into the water, but did not surface. Rescuers found Gvozdy on the shore, he was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation and quickly taken to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.

According to other sources, he died while diving due to the fact that he was under water for too long and emerged very quickly from serious depths.

“Unfortunately, this is true,” UNN quotes Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgeny Enin, who confirmed the death.

“According to preliminary information, the tragedy occurred around 11 am on May 28 near the city of Dahab on the Sinai Peninsula. The nail dived under the water, and then rose sharply from a depth of 40 meters,” political scientist Taras Berezovets, who serves the interests of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, clarifies in his blog.

Commenting on what happened, DPR People's Council deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky noted that Viktor Gvozd was an experienced diver.

“From 40 meters I decided to ascend sharply, it seems that I suddenly remembered something... Perhaps something related to the MH-17 tragedy, you know...” suggested Berdichevsky.

In turn, Russian political scientist Sergei Markov directly wrote about the murder.

“Former head of Ukrainian military intelligence Viktor Gvozd was killed. It was officially announced that he accidentally drowned in Egypt. But, of course, this is extremely unlikely. Gvozd is one of the most important war criminals, since his leadership of military intelligence occurred during the period of the most active hostilities, from 2014 to 2016.

It was then, after the coup d'etat, that the junta that seized power brought down repression on the country. The Ukrainian security forces have committed many war crimes. And Gvozd, without a doubt, played one of the leading roles in terror,” the political scientist recalled.

As one of the versions, he suggested that Gvozd could have been killed by friends and relatives of the victims of terror.

“That is, it’s like the Jews after the war tried to kill all the Nazi war criminals who participated in the Holocaust. The war criminal Gvozdy also found retribution,” Markov clarified.

He also did not rule out that the ex-head of intelligence could be cleared as a dangerous witness.

“The second version is that Gvozd was liquidated by the intelligence services of the countries that carried out the coup, because Gvozd knew too much about the participation of NATO countries in war crimes in Ukraine.

In particular, with a high probability, Gvozd participated in a conspiracy by the highest authorities of Ukraine to shoot down the MH17 passenger plane in order to blame the militias for this and declare them terrorists. Criminals are cleaning up witnesses. “Gvozd has been speaking about the United States without enthusiasm lately,” the political scientist noted.

In the third version, the expert suggested that Gvozdy organized his fictitious death.

“Because he knows that criminals will clean up witnesses. It’s a pity that Viktor Gvozd did not end up in the dock as a war criminal,” concluded Sergei Markov.
