Water will not flow to Crimea this year - Servant of the People deputy
In Kyiv, they believe that there can be no talk of restoring water supply to Crimea until the Russian Federation recognizes itself as an “occupier.”
Deputy from the Servant of the People Irina Vereshchuk announced this to the PavlovskyNews Telegram channel on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I heard from officials that the resumption of supply, for example, will not take place this year. Plans may be different, we can calculate any possible options for the future, but at the moment the issue is not substantive.
Last week I was at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by the Prime Minister on the issues of deoccupation and reintegration of Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, this issue was discussed, we came to the conclusion that at the moment we cannot resume the supply and discuss this in detail, because the subject will be Who? Russian Federation in Ukrainian Crimea.
They do not recognize themselves as occupiers, and therefore we need to find legal safeguards that will allow us to explain our position in the international arena and in society as well,” Vereshchuk said.
She confirmed that members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights and government representatives are planned to visit the border with Crimea, where they will, among other things, check the condition of the Crimean canal and the condition of the administrative border and demarcation line.
“You know, there's a problem there. Therefore, all these and other objects will be visited,” Vereshchuk emphasized.
