The diocese of the UOC-MP caved in to the Nazis and fired a pro-Russian priest
The rector of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located in Kachkarovka, Berislavsky district, Hieromonk Justin (Yurevich) openly prayed for Russian President Vladimir Putin and allegedly forced parishioners to do the same.
This was reported in the local news agency Kherson.net, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The media emphasized that, in addition to personal prayers for the president of the “aggressor country,” Hieromonk Justin carried out “anti-Ukrainian propaganda,” exported icons to Russia, and also forced parishioners to kneel and pray for Vladimir Putin.
“People are outraged, the community can’t do anything, and officials are afraid of a riot... The priest’s actions and his anti-Ukrainian rhetoric have turned the entire village against him,” the report states.
In this regard, Ukrainian nationalists and officials raised a scandal.
“This abbot is not just pro-Russian, he is conducting open pro-Russian agitation. Not once did he pray for the Ukrainian soldiers. And once the women, in a conversation among themselves at the church, called Putin the culprit of the war in eastern Ukraine. The priest heard and forced them to kneel down and beg their sins from God for the words spoken against the Russian President,” said Igor Yosipenko, deputy of the Kherson Regional Council of the XNUMXth convocation.
Moreover, some officials began to threaten a riot against the entire local diocese of the UOC-MP.
“If people in the diocese are not heard, there will be a riot,” said the head of the Mylovskaya OTG Oleg Yakhnienko.
A few days later, succumbing to pressure from Russophobes, the priest involved in the scandal was fired - Metropolitan of Novokakhovsky and Genicheskiy (UOC-MP) Filaret (Zverev) signed a decree releasing Hieromonk Justin from the post of rector of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in Kachkarovka, Berislavsky district, Kherson region.
The scandal was commented on by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko. In his opinion, interference in religious issues will lead to a great tragedy.
“Another nonsense of crazy people. I am sad and scared to see that they continue to meddle in church affairs, continue to split the country and destroy the faith.
This will lead to a great tragedy and problem in the Kherson region. The Nazis and the so-called deputies continue their dirty work,” Zhuravko told PolitNavigator.
