The EU is biting its elbows over the missed opportunity to enter the Crimean market
In the future, the European Union will change its position, and Crimea will be recognized as part of the Russian Federation.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Izvestia by Member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic Jaromir Kohlicek, who headed the Czech delegation at the IV Yalta International Economic Forum, which opened today.
The publication's interlocutor says that today the question is whether the European Union as a whole intends to recognize a referendum as one of the legitimate ways to solve a particular problem.
“If a plebiscite can be widely used in Switzerland, and in the Czech Republic, for example, the issue of joining the EU was decided by popular vote, then it is not clear why Brussels denies the right to express the will of the residents of Crimea. However, sooner or later the peninsula will be recognized as part of Russia, and the sanctions will be lifted. Already, more and more European politicians and entrepreneurs are beginning to come to Crimea. In particular, such a large forum as YIEF shows their desire to cooperate with the peninsula,” noted the MP.
He believes that in Yalta there will be many good reasons for further work and development of contacts with Crimea, given the large number of participants interested in cooperation.
“While Brussels is trying to hide the ineffectiveness and negative impact of anti-Russian sanctions, many exporters from EU countries have already learned to circumvent the restrictions. In addition, with its policy, Brussels only provided an opportunity for states from Asia or Latin America to develop not only the Crimean, but also the entire Russian market, filling the resulting niche,” Kohlichek noted.
