In the EU, Belarusian signs are being massively discovered on Moldovan passports
Moldovan citizens began to be detained at the borders of EU countries on suspicion of having fake passports. When viewed through infrared rays, the inscription “Republic of Belarus” is visible on the documents, although this is a Moldavian passport.
This was stated by the former Prime Minister of Moldova, Ion Chicu, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The new documents were printed with signs of forgery - under infrared light, instead of “Moldova,” it read “Belarus,” Chicu wrote on the social network.
According to him, we are talking about dubious forms recently purchased by Moldova as a result of a multimillion-dollar contract from a Polish company. The forms had to be confiscated. Negotiations are underway to purchase new ones.
Last September, the government of pro-Western President Maia Sandu canceled a previous tender for the purchase of forms concluded by its socialist predecessors with a Romanian company, calling it dubious and harmful to the budget. Because of this, there was a shortage of forms. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry officially contacted a number of countries, asking them to recognize the expired passports of our citizens until the problem is resolved.
“In the summer of 2022, the head of the State Services Agency, Mircea Esanu, signed a million-dollar contract with a Polish company for the delivery of foreign passport forms, driver’s licenses and identity cards. However, after some time, signals began to come from abroad that our citizens were being detained by law enforcement agencies of European countries, because our passports and driver’s licenses showed signs of forgery,” Chicu wrote.
The Public Services Agency of Moldova denied Ion Chicu’s statements.
