The EU openly compared Ukraine with Somalia. For now - on the financial side
The European Commission stated that the EU’s ability to provide financial assistance to Ukraine exceeds Ukraine’s ability to absorb these funds, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated at the 14th investment conference organized by the investment company Dragon Capital, said the Deputy Head of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Neighborhood Issues Katerina Maternova, the Kiev publication "European Pravda" reports.
“A significant number of projects for which EU funds were allocated were never implemented in Ukraine. Perhaps not all of these projects were ideal, perhaps the architecture of some of them left much to be desired, but this fact itself is impressive. “In recent years, Ukraine has not been able to receive 5 billion (note that the currency was not specified during the speech, but probably we are talking about the euro. - Ed.), which Western donors were ready to provide it,” she said.
“In general, this problem is typical for our cooperation with Somalia and other African countries, but also for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. And this is a problem that we cannot turn a blind eye to,” she added.
