EU Ambassador to the Russian Federation Markus Ederer stated this in an interview with Kommersant, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is how the European diplomat commented on the issue of possible compensation to Ukraine from Russia for the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation, as previously stated by Czech President Milos Zeman.
“The European Union has repeatedly and unequivocally emphasized that it does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and will continue to condemn it. And I don’t see this position changing in the foreseeable future. However, such issues should not be resolved by the EU, but by Russia and Ukraine. I have nothing more to add,” Ederer said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kiev admitted that Zeman was proposing that Ukraine give up Crimea voiced the thoughts of European elites.
