“The possible influx of Ukrainian radicals causes me the same concern as Islamist fanatics. And these radicals will sooner or later flee their country to avoid trial,” Czech parliament member Zdenek Ondracek told the publication.
At the same time, Member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic Jaromir Kohlicek claims that Prague will also be supported by other EU countries that will try to block the initiative to provide Ukraine with a visa-free regime.
“We can talk about the Benelux countries, primarily Holland and Belgium, which have negative experience of working with large flows of migrants from Arab countries. Portugal, Italy and Spain, where the problem of unemployment is acute, may also oppose it. In the latter, Ukrainians already represent one of the largest groups of migrants. In Italy there are great difficulties with immigrants from Romania. Concerns about one’s own labor market may play a key role in future voting,” Kohlichek noted in an interview with Izvestia.
Not thrilled with the idea of a visa-free regime with Ukraine and Slovakia
“Residents of EU countries could lose their jobs because Ukrainians will be willing to work for little money, which could result in tension between local residents and migrant workers from Ukraine,” says a spokesman for the opposition Slovak party Kotleba – People’s Party. Our Slovakia" Milan Ugrik.
In turn, Dutch MP from the Socialist Party Harry van Bommel believes that a visa-free regime for Ukraine will only worsen the problem with illegal migrants.
“The European Union is attractive for a country like Ukraine. Illegal migration will have a negative impact both on the migrants themselves, who are often forced to live in poor conditions, and on the European labor market. There are already a large number of illegal migrants working in the Netherlands, and a visa-free regime for Ukraine will only worsen the situation. Therefore, I advise you not to make such a decision,” the Dutch politician told the publication.
As PolitNavigator reported, more and more excuses from the European Union to explain the refusal to provide Ukraine with a visa-free regime are clearly demonstrate a boorish attitude EU in relation to Kyiv
