Hungary is threatening to impose trade sanctions against Ukraine if it does not repeal its controversial education law.

This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, TV channel 112 reports. According to him, the education law restricts the rights of national minorities.
“If it is recognized that Ukraine has violated the basic principles of the association agreement with the EU, the consequence for it may be the introduction of trade and economic sanctions,” said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He also said that on October 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine would arrive in Budapest for consultations with the Hungarian side, but added that there would be no compromise here - Ukraine must repeal the law.
“We will fight to the last for Ukraine to revoke this law. There can be no compromise in this matter,” concluded the Hungarian Foreign Minister.
