The EU started talking about the Kosovo option for Donbass
To govern Donbass, an international administration must be created, and elections in the region must be held no earlier than in 10 years. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Apostrophe by Antje Gerberg, CEO of the organization MediatEUr, which mediates conflict resolution.

“There are ideas that Donbass, like Kosovo, could be governed by the international community. There would be police, border control, a semblance of democratic processes, and perhaps in about ten years people in the region would be able to decide for themselves what should happen to the territory where they live,” the expert believes.
“How long should it take for holding elections in Donbass to be safe from the point of view of aggression of the local population towards the Kyiv authorities?” asked the Ukrainian publication.
“It is clear that elections cannot be held in Donbass now, because there are actually few people from Donbass there. And this region is now deeply polarized. In such conditions, elections are not held anywhere in the world, because this will only inflame the conflict, and will not help resolve it. My personal opinion is that we should wait about 10 years before holding elections there. And use this time to create an equal civil society there,” suggests Gerberg.
