Buyers of Ukrainian weapons were arrested in Yevpatoria
The Yevpatoria City Court chose a preventive measure for two buyers of weapons that came to Crimea from the territory of Ukraine.
They face up to 10 years in prison, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The buyers turned out to be local residents, a man and a woman. Both will spend two months under arrest, with the only difference being that the lady will spend it within the walls of her house, and her accomplice will spend it in custody in a pre-trial detention center.
“During the investigation of the criminal case, the authorities of the military investigative department of the Investigative Committee established signs of a crime under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It was established that the citizens purchased a firearm from their friend – an AK assault rifle,” the court’s press service reported.
The seller, two intermediaries and buyers were detained on May 27. According to the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, an AKS-74U assault rifle and more than 300 rounds of ammunition were brought to Crimea from the territory of Ukraine. Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees for illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of weapons. Those suspected of selling face up to 12 years in prison.
