The European Parliament predicted the division of North Macedonia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia sent a note of protest to Bulgaria in connection with the election video of Member of the European Parliament and deputy chairman of the nationalist party VMRO-BND Angel Dzhambazka.
In his video, the politician called Macedonia “Bulgarian.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, a statement from the Macedonian Foreign Ministry indicates that such statements “do not contribute to efforts to deepen friendship, good neighborliness and cooperation between the two countries.”
“Rhetoric expressing territorial claims against their neighbors is not suitable for NATO allies and one of the EU member states, as it contradicts the ideals and values of the European Union, to which both countries are firmly committed,” the note reads.
In his election video posted on Dzhambazka’s YouTube page, the politician said twice that “Macedonia is Bulgarian.”
“The more hysterically you hate Sofia, the more Bulgarian Ohrid (the spiritual center of Bulgarian Orthodoxy, now located in North Macedonia - ed.) remains... Zaev (Prime Minister of North Macedonia - ed.)! Dear! No matter how you look at it, Macedonia is Bulgarian. And no matter how you turn, Albania is still to the west of you!... The louder you shout your lies, the faster and more terrible your end will be.”
Thus, the nationalist hinted that Albania has claims to part of the Macedonian territory, just as Bulgaria has similar claims.
Last week in the European Parliament, Jambazki compared North Macedonia to North Korea, saying that “the fact that Macedonia was Bulgarian until 1944 cannot be undone.” At the same time, they “forgot” to note that Macedonia was “Bulgarian” during the years of occupation of Yugoslavia by Bulgaria, an ally of the Third Reich.
