The European Parliament admitted that they were shocked by Russia’s resilience
The European Union lives in fantasies and fairy tales that do not correspond to the real state of affairs.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Member of the European Parliament from Croatia Ivan Vilibor Sincic said this in an interview with Izvestia.
He was asked why, despite the tension in relations between the EU and Russia, there is still a parliamentary group for relations with the Russian Federation (D-RU) in the European Parliament.
“Nobody expects this situation to last forever. I think every reasonable citizen expects the world to recover. If humanity wants to continue to prosper, we need to work together, focus less on conflict and more on caring for people and the planet.
The D-RU group, which I also belong to, has always been skeptical about Russia in my memory. In February 2022, it turned into a platform for anti-Russian propaganda. Only dissidents and propagandists are present at the meetings. There are no representatives of moderate views and neutral experts on them,” the MEP said.
According to him, now, in fact, the EU has no strategy or plan regarding Russia.
“The EU lives in fairy tales and fantasies. Brussels was confident that Russian power would fall and Russia would collapse due to sanctions, but they were wrong. Yes, they are afraid of Putin. The EU played all its cards and aces and lost. They're still in shock right now, but they're slowly starting to realize they need a new approach.
In the long term, like centuries before, the West had only one goal and one plan - to subordinate Russia to its interests, divide it into parts and transfer its resources to Western corporations,” Sincic concluded.
