It is noted that at the site of the European Parliament during the conference “European Union and Russian Regions”, in which MEPs and representatives of national parliaments of EU countries participated, a video message was heard from the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, who invited European politicians to visit the peninsula.

“I hope that European politicians will visit the peninsula even more often to see with their own eyes that there is no “annexation” or “occupation” of Crimea. We have nothing to hide. European parliamentarians, public figures, and representatives of civil society can come to the peninsula and communicate not only with Crimean politicians, but also with representatives of public organizations, religious communities and ordinary Crimeans,” Aksenov commented on his speech.

In addition, a presentation of the YIEF took place, which was described in more detail by the co-chairman of the organizing committee of the IV Yalta Forum, which will be held from April 19 to 21, 2018, Andrey Nazarov.

The conference was attended by more than 50 people, including Czech EP member Jaromir Kohlicek (the main organizer of the event), his colleagues from Holland Andre Elissen and Latvian Tatyana Zhdanok, representatives of the national parliament - members of the Belgian House of Representatives Philip Dewinter and Aldo Karkasy, as well as parliamentarians from Italy and other countries. From Russia were the director of the Crimean Congress Foundation, Alexey Vorobyov, and political scientist Alexander Vedrussov.

“Many EU residents are in favor of lifting sanctions and creating a united Europe: from Lisbon to Vladivostok. The conference demonstrated that, despite pressure from above, some European politicians are not afraid to express their opinions and are ready to fight to improve relations with Moscow,” Kohlicek said.

In turn, Roberto Ciambetti, chairman of the regional council of the northern Italian region of Veneto, told the publication that anti-Russian sanctions are unfounded and create serious problems for European entrepreneurs.

“I want Brussels and Rome in particular to see Russia as a close partner, not an enemy. The sanctions must be lifted immediately. I hope that today’s event will help to look at the situation with different eyes and will have a positive impact on the rapprochement between Russia and the EU,” Ciambetti emphasized.
