“The US Air Force will station a small number of aircraft in Europe. The F-35A is scheduled to conduct training flights with other US and NATO aircraft in Europe within several weeks as part of the European Security Initiative,” the report said.
According to the Ministry of Defense, this exercise will allow the Air Force to demonstrate the operational capabilities of the 5th generation fighter. This will also help clarify the requirements for eventually permanently basing the F-35A in Europe, which should receive the fighters after 2020.
Earlier it was reported that sea trials of the world's largest new generation aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, began in the United States of America.
