Ukrainian employers are unable to provide workers with decent employment, while the authorities spend tens of billions on civil servants so that they travel around the world with an outstretched hand, begging for more loans for the state.

This was stated by the General Director of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine Ruslan Ilyichev during the trade union discussion “30 years of independence of Ukraine,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What is the protection of rights in a country where they built a rapeseed-corn-mining economy? What kind of decent job do you want? Do you want freight trains to go to Slovakia non-stop every second, carrying ore, and cars come from there, and we have decent work? There will be no decent work, forget it like a bad dream. There will be no decent work. In this economy that we have today, there will be no decent work,” Ilyichev said.

“In a poor country there is no social protection or education. We did everything right - we created a qualification agency, we create a lot of different right things. I’ll say it again: in a poor country there is neither quality education nor medicine. Now we are still reaping what our parents built,” the speaker added.

“167 thousand civil servants a year cost us 40 billion hryvnia. Do I know where I saw them with 40 billion hryvnia? If we cut these civil servants by a third today, we can buy 80 new suburban trains that will be produced by the Kryukov Carriage Plant - and people will travel in comfort, and people will earn money, and business will make a profit. Today I don’t want to pay 40 billion for an incomprehensible KPI (key performance indicators - ed.),” says the head of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.

“You say that our officials are gods. Yes, they are gods, and do you know why? Because our state has long been looking towards foreign creditors. Will someone give us for government bonds or not? And these people are more important to them than us, who do business, and you, who work. Unfortunately it is so. We go around the world like this - someone will give us a trade loan, someone else will do something else. And they bow low in that direction,” added Ilyichev.
