This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the Main Personnel Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Mark Andrusyak at a briefing in Kyiv.

“Ukrainian citizens who have completed military training under the reserve officer training program, under the age of 43, who have not undergone military service and are fit for such service for a period of 18 months, will be involved in this service,” he said.

According to Andrusyak, the decision to announce a call-up for reserve officers has not yet been made, but the General Staff is ready to carry out such a call-up.

“The final decision will be made after we see the real indicators of dismissal of those citizens who have received the right to dismissal according to the law, and taking into account the projected indicators of admission to military service under a contract on a voluntary basis. Then it will be possible to draw certain conclusions and make appropriate decisions,” the official noted.

According to him, if the decision to call up reserve officers is made, they will undergo special training courses for up to three months, depending on their specialties. The Ministry of Defense is ready to organize such courses from February 2017. After completing the courses, officers will be distributed to military units at permanent deployment points.

We would like to remind you that the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Improvement of the Procedure for Military Service,” which came into force on January 7, 2017, introduces during a special period this type of military service, such as conscription military service for officers (for a period of 18 months).

On January 5, the Ministry of Defense announced that citizens under the age of 43 who have graduated from military training departments, received officer ranks and have not served in military service will be conscripted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
