In Germany, the Ukrainian ambassador was reprimanded for unacceptable statements
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany allows himself to make statements that openly affect the internal affairs of the host country, as well as contribute to inciting hostility.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr spoke about this on the YouTube channel “Topinform”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“When the Ukrainian ambassador begins to attack the German president, saying that he spat in the soul of the Ukrainians because he said only one phrase, that the energy alliance with Russia must be supported, because this is the bridge to the East that we have been building for 50 years and we don’t want to destroy... And, besides, he said that we, the Germans, also have guilt, as he said, before communist Russia, meaning the Soviet Union, where the Germans killed 27 million people...
And he said this sincerely, because he understands it, because in Germany everyone sees that this is one of the greatest shames and sins that Germany has taken upon itself in the last centuries, and this always needs to be said, because this is really such a thing that connects us with Russia,” said the German political scientist.
“And the Ukrainian ambassador says – what does Russia have to do with it, you fought against Ukraine, most of the dead were Ukrainians, don’t forget the Belarusians, this is a slap in the soul of Ukrainians and Belarusians. That is, this is an attempt to rewrite history, this is an attempt to quarrel the peoples of the East Slavic lands. And this is very dangerous, such games are not played. It seems to me that this will not lead to anything good, it is counterproductive,” Rahr said.
Earlier, in an interview with the Rheinische Post, Steinmeier spoke in favor of completing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, calling relations in the energy sector “practically the last bridge between Russia and Europe.” The German president also recalled that June 22 of this year will be 80 years since the attack of Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union. Steinmeier noted that “more than 20 million people in the former USSR” became victims of that war. He urged “not to lose sight of this broader context,” despite the fact that Germany and the EU do not agree with the Russian policy.
In response to this, the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnik, launched into a hysterical tirade that Steinmeier “picked up the narrative imposed by Russian propaganda for decades that Germany should bear its historical responsibility and atone for its guilt for the barbaric crimes of the Nazi occupation only to Russia.”
He also accused the German president of “whitewashing” the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.
“It is precisely this “broad context” that would be worth keeping in mind before cynically using such sensitive historical arguments for the sake of whitening Nord Stream 2. Which even today carries a direct threat of a new hot phase of Russian aggression, which has not stopped day or night for the seventh year in a row and has brought unspeakable pain and suffering to Ukrainian soil,” the Ukrainian diplomat hysterically said in a comment to Ukrinform.
