Germany warned that they will no longer blindly pander to Kyiv
The period when Germany unconditionally “fit in” with Russia for the non-negotiable Kyiv is coming to an end.
This was stated by German political scientist, head of research projects at the German-Russian Forum, Alexander Rahr, during a round table in the Moscow-Berlin video bridge format, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Naturally, Germany should be a mediator between Ukraine and Russia, but it has become a little lost in this role over the past three years. Both America and the media pressed - Germany, instead of the seer, took the side of Kyiv - they say, we cannot criticize them, because they are right.
Now this point of view must change. If Germany and France want the Minsk agreements and the Normandy Four to lead to some positive changes and calm the situation in eastern Ukraine, then they need to be an honest broker. And therefore Germany is now obliged to make critical statements towards Kiev,” said Alexander Rahr.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, during the last meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, both sides, advocating a speedy resolution to the Donbass conflict, agreed that ending the war depends primarily on Kyiv.
