Anti-Americanism triumphs in Germany – Polish media
Polish media are unhappy with the recent statement by the US ambassador in Warsaw, who suggested that American nuclear missiles could be redeployed from Germany to Polish territory.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the influential Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita is offended that the issue of the possible redeployment of nuclear weapons is being resolved without the participation of Warsaw.
“Poland cannot be allowed to be treated as a second-class NATO member. We have been in the alliance for 21 years, but we still hear that we cannot do what is done in Germany, Italy or Belgium, because it will anger Russia,” the authors of the article are indignant.
Polish media cite difficult relations between Berlin and Washington as the reasons why the Germans want to abandon American atomic weapons.
“Anti-Americanism triumphs in Germany,” concludes Rzeczpospolita. – Gratitude for America, which protected the Germans during the most difficult moments of the Cold War and allowed them to achieve economic prosperity, is felt only by representatives of the older generation of politicians. The same German circles that abhor American nuclear weapons are advocating for the lifting of sanctions against Russia and are (and have been) pushing hard for the construction of Nord Stream.
