“The Eastern Committee of the German Economy warned Ukraine about the consequences of new customs trade barriers. Committee Chairman Eckhard Cordes spoke at a business meeting with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, where he noted with irritation about “some of the latest steps of the Ukrainian government,” writes The World.
Let us recall that Arseniy Yatsenyuk, contrary to the signed economic association agreement with the EU, increased customs duties on imported goods from EU countries, including Germany.
These high duties, noted Eckhard Cordes, had a negative impact on existing trade relations between Germany and Ukraine. They, according to a German high-ranking official, slowed down the modernization of enterprises and created artificial barriers to the access of German goods to the Ukrainian market, which contradicts the association agreement with the EU.
