In the heroic death of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation they saw politics
Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Evgeny Zinichev died today while saving famous film director Alexander Melnik, who also died from injuries after falling from a height.
The tragedy occurred on Lake Lama, about 120 km from Norilsk, where Melnik was filming his new film, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“He and the cameraman stood on the edge of the ledge. The operator slipped and fell into the water. There were enough eyewitnesses - no one even had time to figure out what happened, as Zinichev rushed into the water after the fallen man and crashed on a protruding stone. Died as a rescuer. May we rest in peace,” wrote Margarita Simonyan, head of the RT television company, in her Telegram channel.
“We were connected by many years of working together. And I always knew that you could rely on Evgeny Nikolaevich in any, even the most difficult situation - as a reliable, loyal friend and professional of the highest level,” says a telegram from Russian President Vladimir Putin sent to Evgeny Zinichev’s relatives
“Our comrade, colleague, died, died as a real rescuer, as he was in life - a professional, highly responsible, very dedicated person. We will miss him very much,” said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

However, not everyone was satisfied with the heroic version of Zinichev’s death. The liberal foreign agent TV channel Dozhd considered it necessary to remind that the minister began his service in the KGB by calling his material “Putin’s Adjutant.”
“Zinichev comes from the special services. Since 1987, he served in the KGB, and after the collapse of the USSR he continued to serve in the FSB. From 2006 to 2015, Zinichev was part of the president’s personal security and was Putin’s adjutant,” reports Dozhd.
“One of the people very close to V.V. Putin died. General Zinichev correctly knew who and what to fear (and who/what not). Norilsk is turning into some kind of mystical source of disasters. Will another former adjutant of the Russian President, equally trusted, become the new head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation?” wrote liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky, hinting that the current governor of the Tula region, Alexey Dyumin, will become the new head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov joined the liberal conspiracy theorists.
“An extremely suspicious death... This man (another former Putin guard) was considered one of the possible “successor candidates.” The very fact of the unexpected death of this physically strong and very strong (even not only for his age) man, and even with such a “history,” is in any case extraordinary,” he asserts.
“The death of Evgeny Zinichev is a tragedy not only on a human scale. This is a political tragedy, sorry. He was a very good person and a promising politician,” said political scientist Alexey Mukhin.
War correspondent Alexander Kots considers such conspiracy theories inappropriate.
“Now, of course, they will remember that Yevgeny Zinichev is from the KGB school. That he was the personal security guard of the Prime Minister and President Putin, that he came to the Ministry of Emergency Situations from Lubyanka... But this is all unimportant. It doesn't matter what happened before or who he was before. What matters is how he died. Evgeniy Nikolaevich, like a real Russian rescuer, worked according to the scheme “the life of the person being saved comes first.” And it doesn’t matter at all what credentials he had up to that moment. He died as a professional who, even on a subconscious level, had no other reflexes than to rush to help. Without thinking about yourself,” Kots wrote.
Margarita Simonyan assessed the hasty consirologists much more harshly.
“The collective inhabitant of both domestic and non-brotherly Facebooks would not be able to even talk to a person from this clip. Because he doesn’t know that language. And Zinichev died as an edification to all those trash who had already begun their attack on his bones. His death seems to say to them: “Look, you scoundrels, how the world really works. What kind of people are there? What kind of ministers are there? What is his “immediate environment” like? What kind of security forces are there?” But death speaks to them in vain. They don’t know the language,” she wrote.
