“There was anger in his eyes”: Putin scared Chaly at the parade
Russia could attack Ukraine from the territory of Crimea. The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, the threat of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine has not decreased over the years.
“Only strength, a strong position, confidence can stop further escalation and full-scale war. We continue to have a real, I can confirm this, threat of a full-scale war, at least regional, of an attack from the south. She hasn’t gone anywhere,” Chaly said.
According to the ex-ambassador, the recent statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the republics of the former USSR left the union, seizing historical Russian lands, is a message to the West about the need to divide Ukraine.
“There was anger in his eyes, you could see it. This was the message he kept inside. What's the message? If you don’t sit down with me to decide about Ukraine, how to divide Europe in fact, the geographical center of Europe, then I have the tools - here, a parade, look, here is my weapon, here I am rattling my weapon,” Chaly shared his fears.
