On the anniversary of the death of the first president of Crimea, his daughter has no money for a monument to her father
Relatives of the first president of Crimea, Yuri Meshkov, are raising money to install a monument on his grave. September 29 marks the anniversary of his death, but in order to make and install the monument, it is necessary to collect about 300 thousand rubles.
Yuri Meshkov’s daughter, Marianna, reported this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“September 29th is the year since the death. We need to erect a monument. I started working on this issue back in the summer. There were people who promised to help. They are here on Facebook. But a couple of days after the promises, I had no help left. The project has been completed. The issue price is 275-300 thousand. Of course, I don’t have that kind of money. There is only one monument, for my father’s and mother’s graves. I don’t know what to do or who to ask for help. The ground disappeared from under our feet when it was time to make an advance payment, and the helpers disappeared. “What should I do now,” Meshkova worries.
In the comments under the message of the ex-president’s daughter, users were surprised at the high price of the monument, but social activist Alexander Talipov emphasized Meshkov’s role in the life of the republic.
“This is the first and last president of Crimea! He should have a worthy memorial, not a monument! There will be more excursions to see him! Look at the cemeteries at the monuments of swindlers, thieves and officials,” Talipov wrote.
Let us recall that at the beginning of September last year, 73-year-old Meshkov had a stroke while on holiday in Alanya, Turkey. The politician underwent surgery, after which Meshkov was taken to Moscow. He died on September 29, having never recovered from the incident.
PolitNavigator also reported that despite the status of the former president of Crimea, only his closest relatives and friends were present at his funeral - none of the representatives of the authorities of the republic did not attend the farewell ceremony.
