Activists burst into the building and demanded that the personnel vacate the premises and hand over their weapons.
People chanted: “The police are with the people!”, “Berkut!”
The attackers destroyed everything in their path - glass, doors, locks, trying to get into the office of the head of the city department. Police officers in helmets and with shields tried to persuade them to prevent the storming of the office. A fight broke out, a shot was heard, and as a result, the activists beat the guards and the boss with sticks, and dragged him out into the street.
There Krischenkov, surrounded by a crowd, got into an ambulance.
However, the protesters blocked the ambulance for a long time, demanding that the boss be returned to lynching and shouting “On your knees!”
After this, people returned to the city department to force the remaining police officers there to leave. The Russian national flag was hoisted over the building.
After this, it was announced that the Gorlovka police battalion had completely gone over to the side of the people. Alexander Shulzhenko was proclaimed chief of police.
Earlier, pro-Russian activists blocked Lenin Avenue and stopped traffic on this central street of Gorlovka.
