The State Duma wants to “clear the internal perimeter” of all Western government organizations
The State Duma Commission to investigate facts of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation proposes to include in the list of foreign organizations that may be considered undesirable, international organizations established by foreign government bodies.
The chairman of the commission, Vasily Piskarev, told reporters in parliament about this today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If this organization conducts anti-Russian activities, encroaches on our sovereignty, undermines our defense capability, it should be recognized as undesirable, regardless of who founded it. We must give such a tool to our bodies ensuring security in our country,” Piskarev said.
A member of the commission from the LDPR faction, Andrei Lugovoy, believes that the initiative will contribute to “cleaning up the internal perimeter.”
“Over the past two years, we have learned to identify the internal enemy, including under the roofs of foreign public organizations. And they, guided by this, are trying to create organizations where the founders are government agencies of foreign countries. We propose that such organizations be declared undesirable,” Lugovoi said.
Participation in the activities of an undesirable organization will be a reason to initiate administrative and then criminal proceedings. In Russia, 137 non-governmental organizations are recognized as undesirable.
