The State Duma finally remembered the Russian Mefedov, languishing in a Ukrainian prison
Russian State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov called on his colleagues to accept a separate appeal about the fate of Russian citizen Yevgeny Mefedov, who has been in a Ukrainian prison for three years in connection with the events in Odessa on May 2.
“He really asks the State Duma deputies, our entire country, all of us to pay attention to his case. He has a reason to contact you and me. Unfortunately, there is insufficient support. He is worried that he only received a message from the Russian consul once. His name does not appear in the Russian media, he is not included in the exchange lists,” Shargunov said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the deputy, Mefedov moved to Odessa to live with his girlfriend and accidentally ended up on the Kulikovo Field on the day of the tragedy. However, he continues to be kept in a pre-trial detention center only because he has a Russian passport.
“Several times Odessa judges decided to release him, but the law-secret thugs there caused trouble at the hearings and pushed the accused back into the cage.
Respect for a country is determined by how efficiently, effectively and seriously it protects its own. Everything that happens in the neighboring state is a reason for us to be alarmed,” Shargunov said.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin did not react in any way to the speech, although at the last meeting he immediately supported a deputy from the LDPR, who proposed complaining to the OSCE about Ukraine for banning Russian social networks.
