The State Duma condemned a BBC film denigrating Russian fans
A documentary film, “Army of Russian Hooligans,” recently shown on the BBC, dedicated to Russian football fans, is intended to discredit the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. LDPR deputy Mikhail Degtyarev stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“The BBC will soon lose all its viewers. Distortion of facts and biased presentation of materials create a negative impression of our country and our fans. The idea about the Russian army, which appears either in the Donbass or in Limpopo, can play a cruel joke on our Western partners. At the same time, the image of English fans is known throughout the world. These are fights, drunkenness, drugs,” Degtyarev said.
He emphasized that hooliganism in stadiums is a global problem.
“Russia is paying the closest attention to order at the stadiums of the 2018 championship. All of them are equipped with security systems that have no analogues. Respectable football fans can feel safe. We have already adopted in the first reading an important law on tightening liability for fans, both Russian and foreign,” Degtyarev said.
