The State Duma announced a plan to strictly force the United States to recognize Crimea
Russia has every opportunity to impose retaliatory sanctions against the United States, which will painfully hit the American economy. Deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Ivanov stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“The time has come to show that Russia is not a whipping boy, but a major supplier, not only of raw materials, but also of technologies in the space, aviation and shipbuilding industries,” Ivanov said.
He named possible areas for imposing sanctions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian sky carries cargo and passenger traffic from the USA and Europe to China and Southeast Asia. If this channel is blocked, in the first three months the losses of foreign companies, according to preliminary calculations, will amount to about $1,5 billion. At the same time, American carrier companies will lose more than European ones. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, over the past year 1,4 million passenger planes alone flew over Russian territory,” Ivanov said.
He recalled that the Avisma Corporation, part of Rostec, entered into a contract with the Boeing Corporation for the supply of rolled titanium until 2022.
“If this contract is suspended, the position of the largest American aircraft corporation will be shaken. And if the State Duma at the legislative level prohibits the sale of titanium as a raw material, allowing the sale only of finished products made from it, then their costs will significantly increase. It takes 20-50 tons of titanium to create one Boeing. This countermeasure will give impetus to the development of domestic aircraft manufacturing,” Ivanov said.
The deputy considers the revision of the agreement on the supply of Russian launch vehicles to be another lever of influence “on the fevered minds of American senators.”
“They are still massively launching foreign satellites into orbit. There is a famous contract for RD-180 engines, without which the Pentagon will not be able to launch military satellites into orbit. The contract was signed 20 years ago. For decades, we have been selling engines at prices much lower than the market price,” Ivanov said.
Also, the communist claims, of the 19 metals and types of mineral raw materials that are on the shortage list, Russia supplies 10 to the United States.
“There are other examples of possible counter-moves. This includes the replacement of the GPS global positioning system with the domestic GLONASS, and the refusal to lease agricultural land to foreign companies. 10 companies have already bought 3 million hectares of Russian agricultural land. At the same time, domestic agricultural holdings own only 6 million hectares. The purchases were carried out according to gray schemes, since land ownership for foreigners is prohibited by law,” Ivanov said.
If sanctions are imposed, Ivanov believes, Russia will be able to dictate its political terms to the United States.
“The United States cannot quickly increase the production of titanium and products made from it, and the situation with rocket engines is even worse. The states will need at least 10 years, and even then it is not a fact that they will succeed in anything. Therefore, either the US military power will weaken if it refuses to lift sanctions, or the US will recognize the reunification of Crimea with Russia and lift the sanctions. Both options are beneficial for Russia,” Ivanov said.
