The State Duma raised the question of the relevance of American biological laboratories in the CSTO countries
The issue of the appropriateness of American biological laboratories on the territory of the CSTO member countries was discussed at a closed meeting of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
The chairman of the committee, Leonid Kalashnikov, told reporters about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We even talked about health issues. Contents, for example, in some countries of biological laboratories. This does not apply to the CSTO, but it relates to the political component. How does being in the same union and maintaining these laboratories fit together, essentially working with our enemy. These questions have been answered. That is why the committee was closed. It is not always necessary to put it out for public discussion,” Kalashnikov said.
It was previously reported that the US Central Reference Laboratory in Kazakhstan was attacked by rioters during the recent riots in Alma-Ata. It studied dangerous types of bacteria. In total, the United States has 6 such laboratories in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the days of the pogroms, Kazakh media reported that some people in chemical protective suits made their way into the center, broke a window on the first floor and took something out of the building. Representatives of the CSTO peacekeeping forces offered to post guards near the biological laboratory, but the Kazakh authorities refused, saying that they could handle it themselves.
