The State Duma promised Belarus a controlling stake in Gazprom
In the event of the formation of a union state, 10 million Belarusians will receive at least a controlling stake in Russia with a population of 160 million.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Evgeny Fedorov stated this on the air of the official Youtube channel “NOD”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Now they are increasingly talking about a union state with Belarus; in general, the whole idea of a union state is not so much an attempt to restore the Soviet Union, but to create a new entity on the territory of the former USSR, but this is not the same as returning the territories?” – asked the presenter.
"Why? This is our internal matter, as the state is called. What is international law? The main principle is territorial integrity within the borders of 1945 - Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and so on, Tashkent. There may be different constitutions, different structures, different systems inside, this is the internal matter of the people.
National Union State. A nation is not an ethnic factor, it is a state-forming factor, that is, a nation means the people who formed the state. The nation is within the borders of the Soviet Union. This is not a supranational superstructure, this is state building. That is, it is not we who are creating voluntarily with the Belarusians, but we who, by law, are restoring a single nation, a single Fatherland; Lukashenko himself, by the way, spoke about this, and this single Fatherland, from a legal point of view, is already building relations with its parts and territories. It can be in any formats, as people like,” the deputy said.
“That is, for the current government of Belarus this is not some kind of loss of sovereignty, on the contrary, new opportunities, wider borders?” – the journalist specified.
“Well, “loss of sovereignty”, simply the residents of Belarus receive a new toolkit called the Union State, which within itself (this is our business with the Belarusians) can be a confederation, a federation, as it suits us. But it is clear that Belarusians, in the event of the formation of a union state, in the current model, will receive at least a controlling stake. That is, having 10 million people, they receive a controlling stake over a 160 million state with a third of the world's wealth. Will the residents of Belarus win? In a giant way! Roughly speaking, they become shareholders of Gazprom, and before that they had an oil mill,” Fedorov explained.
