Chairman of the Committee on Information Policy Leonid Levin stated this today from the rostrum of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“Thus, the actions of the American parliament against Russia Today and Sputnik may be an act of unfair competition. Therefore, we reserve the right, in the event of further escalation of the situation by the American side in relation to the Russian media, to resort to mirror measures against American propaganda resources operating in the Russian information space,” Levin said.
He expressed doubt that simple accreditation with the Russian Foreign Ministry is enough for media outlets such as Radio Liberty and Voice of America.
“When it comes to foreign media broadcasting in their own languages, this is correct. But why are foreign media broadcasting in Russian registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and not with Roskomnadzor? This issue requires additional discussion,” Levin is sure.
