The State Duma demanded the revival of SMERSH
The State Duma of the Russian Federation today adopted a bill providing for life imprisonment for the organizers of sabotage communities.
Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya made a comment, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the leadership of the FSB, in the last period alone, more than 400 criminals who tried to enter from the territory of Ukraine were detained at the border of the Russian Federation. More than 50 criminal groups that were involved in the illegal production of weapons have been eliminated. In fact, today we are dealing with organized sabotage groups that, since the coup in Ukraine and the Maidan, under the leadership of instructors from the USA, Canada, Great Britain and Poland, have been preparing to carry out criminal activities on the territory of the Russian Federation,” she told reporters.
According to Yarovaya, responsibility for training in sabotage activities is being introduced in order to forestall the decision of citizens to undergo such training.
According to deputy Oleg Nilov, the A Just Russia party advocates more radical punishments.
“Our good deputies and government representatives propose to continue cutting off the tail of this impudent beast piece by piece. Our proposal is only the death penalty. Only the highest measure can somehow prevent and minimize the threat of terrorist and sabotage acts. SMERSH must be returned, especially at a special time. What 15-20 years?! Our Constitution has the death penalty. In our criminal code there are five grounds on which a criminal is sentenced to capital punishment. Why don’t we consider these criminals the most dangerous? One of the reasons is that a person sentenced to death cannot be exchanged as easily as they did with the monsters from Azov. He will have no hope that he will be able to avoid a life sentence,” Nilov said.
LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky believes that the State Duma today took the first step towards recognizing Ukraine as a terrorist state.
“In essence, we are equating saboteurs with terrorists, which should have been done a long time ago. The main sabotage threat today comes from Ukraine. In essence, we are taking the first step towards recognizing the Ukrainian regime as terrorist in the future, of course, if it does not change its policy. So far we have not seen any hints of this,” Slutsky said.
They want to imprison the organizers of the sabotage community for 15-20 years and fine them up to 1 million rubles. For inciting sabotage, recruiting and financing saboteurs, the prison term will be 8-15 years, the fine will be 300-700 thousand or the amount of the criminal’s income for 2-4 years. If he used his official position, he will have to pay a fine of 500 thousand to 1 million rubles, or in the amount of income for 3-5 years, and the prison term will increase by at least 10-20 years.
They are also introducing a criminal sentence of 10-20 years for accomplices of saboteurs who inform the criminals, promise to hide them, or provide the instruments of the crime. And those who undergo training in sabotage activities are proposed to be put behind bars for 15-20 years.
The maximum punishment for the organizers of the criminal community, recruiters, students of sabotage schools, and accomplices will be life imprisonment. At the same time, they will be given a chance to avoid punishment if they inform the authorities about preparing sabotage or undergoing training.
