The State Duma proposes to close the Kerch Strait for Ukraine
Seizure of Russian tanker by SBU in the port of Izmail on July 25 should entail retaliatory measures from the Russian Federation, for example, closing the Kerch Strait to Ukrainian ships.
Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must react to this act, that’s absolutely certain. Since 800 ships are still in line there, then we have no choice but to simply stop navigation by Ukrainian ships through the Kerch Strait.
For example, I have been proposing this for several days after the detention of our tanker, what the Ukrainian authorities there are counting on, I don’t know, including Zelensky, except that we will have to stop this shipping for you, because you are entering our territorial waters, you come to the “occupier” today, following, for example, Mariupol,” the politician emphasized.
He added that Ukraine deliberately launched the tanker into its port and then arrested it.
“If, for example, it were so, they would accidentally come to you, without asking, violating everything imaginable and inconceivable, they would also carry missiles, like your warships, or machine guns - I could somehow understand. But you did it completely treacherously, unreasonably, it’s unclear why,” Kalashnikov added.
