It is necessary to postpone regional elections in Russia this year until the victorious conclusion of the special military operation in Ukraine.
The head of A Just Russia - For Truth, Sergei Mironov, stated this at a meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the conditions of the Northern Military District, do we need to hold a vote in the fall. We must have unity. We must all be as one, and in the elections we must fight each other. Today in this hall we all support the president and the SVO, and in the elections we must talk about our contradictions,” said the party leader.
As an example, he cited the secretary of the General Council of United Russia, Andrei Turchak, who has repeatedly visited Donbass.
"Well done! He's there every week, he's doing the right things. And when the elections come, what should I say? This is the party that raised the retirement age and other troubles
Why spend a lot of money? Let's send money to the army, to the liberated territories. Today, a real Russian and Russian elite is being forged at the fronts. Let's wait for them until they come with victory, then we will hold elections. Let them take part both as candidates and as voters,” Mironov concluded.
According to the famous Russian political scientist Evgeny Minchenko, who is not known to actively support the special operation, with such statements Mironov tried to outshine the scandalous politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The expert doubts that canceling the elections will be useful for Russia.
“There are people who believe that on the quiet, under the pretext of the Council of Military Districts, the elections can be canceled, because it is much more convenient to sit irremovable. I believe that this point of view is deeply mistaken. There are chances for its implementation, but not only do the elections need to be preserved, I think their rules need to be liberalized and given more opportunities for real competition, and Mironov, since he is so itching, should regulate something, send the missing energy somewhere , let them prohibit members of A Just Russia from having sex. This is not the time, comrades. Everything for the front, everything for victory!” - Minchenko sneers on the air of the Public News Service.
Liberal political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov believes that the leader of the “Socialist Revolutionaries” from the rostrum of the State Duma of the Russian Federation is throwing in the topic of abolishing direct elections, since it was not possible to push it behind the scenes through the presidential administration.
“Many people there are against cancellation because they don’t see risks for the campaign, but they see risks in criticizing their cancellation. Moreover, it is impossible to cancel elections to the Legislative Assembly and the City Duma without introducing martial law, which means that some campaigns will still take place, so Mironov’s theses apply only to governors.
Against the elections, of course, is that part of the political bloc that would itself like to appoint heads, thereby gaining a monopoly not only on their supervision, but also on the approval process in the regional parliaments.

These hypothetical risks today may well outweigh the image losses,” the political scientist believes.
