According to the parliamentarian, this will help not only perpetuate the memory of the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation on the metro map, but also restore historical justice - the station was designed under the name “Crimean Square” during its construction in 1935.
“An extremely important event in the modern history of Russia is the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation, moreover, as a subject of the Russian Federation with the federal city of Sevastopol. In connection with this significant event, I propose to return the Park Kultury metro station on the Sokolnicheskaya line to its name - “Crimean Square,” Mikheev quotes the appeal TASS. The politician recalled that this name was one of the design ones in 1935.
“At the same time, the return of this project name would be logical and justified, since in the Khamovniki district of Moscow, where the station is located, there are a lot of objects bearing the “Crimean” name - Krymsky Bridge, Krymsky Proezd, Krymsky Val,” writes the parliamentarian. He also points out that the Park Kultury station on the Sokolnicheskaya line, although located relatively close to the Park of Culture. Gorky, itself is geographically located precisely on Crimean Square, which adds logic to orientation.
According to the Duma member, the implementation of his initiative will not entail significant financial expenses, since, as the experience of renaming the Ulitsa Podbelskogo station into Rokossovskogo Boulevard has shown, one sticker on a card placed in the metro is enough.
“Moreover, perpetuating the memory of the return of Crimea will be an excellent gift for veterans on the 70th anniversary of the Victory, since Sevastopol, and the whole of Crimea, were important milestones during the Great Patriotic War,” emphasizes Oleg Mikheev.
