The State Duma proposed establishing a Russian Football Day
On the birthday of the legendary Lev Yashin in Russia, it is worth introducing a new memorable date - Russian Football Day.
Such an initiative was voiced by United Russia deputy Dmitry Belik during today’s State Duma meeting, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We are proposing a new memorable date - Russian Football Day, and we propose to make it October 22, the birthday of the legendary Soviet goalkeeper, legend of Soviet and world football Lev Yashin, who was the only goalkeeper awarded the Golden Ball. A man who devoted his entire football career to one club - Dynamo, he is and remains the main figure on the official poster of the World Cup. We see that we have worthy successors to Lev Yashin,” said Dmitry Belik.
