The State Duma proposed closing cinemas in shopping centers

Shopping center owners must temporarily close cinemas and entertainment complexes in order to check the safety of their use.

The head of the “A Just Russia” faction, Sergei Mironov, stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“I will insist that the authorities make a decision to close entertainment centers and cinemas in shopping centers,” he said.

Mironov turned to the owners of shopping and entertainment complexes with a proposal to conduct security checks in all premises used.

“And only after a thorough check can you open it with a clear conscience,” Mironov said.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin instructed the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, joining with other chamber committees, to prepare comprehensive proposals for legislative changes in connection with the fire in Kemerovo.

According to him, after an investigation into the causes of the fire that occurred on March 25 in Kemerovo, the Minister of Internal Affairs or the Minister of Emergency Situations will make a report in the State Duma.

Today's State Duma meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
A fire in Kemerovo in the Winter Cherry shopping center occurred on the evening of March 25. According to one version, the cause of the tragedy was faulty wiring. At the start of the fire, there were about 1,5 thousand people in the building, firefighters rescued 700 people, and 64 people died.
