The State Duma called on Lavrov to start issuing Russian passports in Donbass
Residents of the LPR and DPR need to be issued Russian passports, bypassing existing rules. Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs Leonid Kalashnikov stated this today in the State Duma.

“Ukrainians, in order to obtain our citizenship, need to renounce theirs and receive a certificate. Who will give a certificate today in the south-east of Ukraine? We need to change legislation and approaches. In the southeast, we need to follow the path we followed in some now independent states, where the majority have Russian citizenship. To do this, we need to start working using closed methods,” Kalashnikov said.
According to him, the deputies are counting on help from the Russian Foreign Ministry
“There is really trouble there, people are screaming and are afraid that tomorrow they will be alone again,” Kalashnikov said.
